Empowering Motherhood: Why Counting Blessings Makes You a Better Mom

Today is one of the tough motherhood days. Baby F is going through growth spurt, so he keeps on crying non-stop. I carried him till my back ache. M & F, the elder siblings, age 3 and 6 years old, have been demanding for attention too. M hurt his little finger cos he took a knife to peel off sticker on his duplo. F has been overly sensitive and gets into tears easily over the slightest thing.

Allah Allahu robbi, la usyriku bihi syai’an. For awhile, I felt so helpless and hopeless. And then, I get the Quran and hope to get some soothing words from Him.

While I recited Surah Al-Ahqaf from the start, I totally didnt expect to reach to ayat 15, ‎وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ إِحْسَانًا ۖ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ كُرْهًا وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهًا ۖ وَحَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ ثَلَاثُونَ شَهْرًا ۚ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً قَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي ۖ إِنِّي تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

How beautifully Allah reminds me that He acknowledge the hardship of a mom bearing her child. But, His bountiful ni’mah exceeds all else. In this Surah, I learnt that despite all the tough situations, i always have to remind myself to be GRATEFUL. Grateful for all the bountiful ni’mah that he have given to me; food, shelter, love, children, husband, family, Islam, education, safety and many many many more.

Cos there are others who didn’t get to feel all these blessings. And when we are thankful to Him, He will give us more.🌻

After an episode of trying to list down as many of His bountiful ni’mah, i felt a huge relief. I felt so much better. Gratitude feeds positivity to our mind. Walhamdulillahi robbil ‘alamin.

There may be no #ourarabictuesday this week, but we can always cover it on other days. InsyaAllah. Doakankay!😄

Cos mommy, self-care is giving the world the BEST of us, instead of what’s left of us. What do you do for self-care mommies?🌼

Rooting for you, mommy!
